TTT #029: "Lessons in Learning from an Actor" with Aidan Whytock

Career Jun 27, 2020

In this episode, Aidan Whytock talks to us about his acting journey and how he broke into the field. He recounts his first acting experience wherein his dialogue served as the punchline for a joke.

So, I got up and did the line, and the audience started laughing. And the first thing my body told me was ‘are they laughing at me’ but then I realized (they were) laughing with me.

This way, he emphasizes how he overcame his fears and thereby iterates the importance of winning over our insecurities and becoming a part of the broader picture.

Being an actor seems to sound like a glamorous career option. But Aidan mentions how acting was the hardest job he had ever done, especially in terms of the uncertainty that is associated with the field. And yet, despite all of it, he considers it to be worth it as he reminisces of reading Eckhart Tolle’s ‘The Power of Now.’ Using this idea, he explains how acting facilitated this approach, giving him the chance to feel every moment.

He talks about how his creative experiences shaped the coming up of his e-learning app, ‘Sharpen’ which promotes smart-learning and aims for boosting retention.  Aidan Whytock’s journey is definitely one of its own kind. But despite it being so unique, he touches on aspects that apply to all of us, which gives us hope to dream and inspire us to achieve.
